He grew up isolated with only his twin sister for company, and while his love for her is a sign that he's capable of caring for someone very deeply, he doesn't believe himself to be capable of forming connections with people at all. He believes this is true of everyone, not just himself, but that's definitely the trauma of war talking for him. He doesn't speak much either. This makes him come off as somewhat naive, and though that may be true, that isn't why. This is in part to the fact that even getting enough saliva in his mouth to form words is difficult, but it's also because Richard is more of a thinker than people give him credit for. Yes, he can be ruthless, and yes he makes a good hitman because he knows his firearms and will pull the trigger for whomever gives the order, but his affliction has helped him to see people as they really are and in many cases, he's confused by people's ignorance. He accepts it, though. Even he judges people and while he knows it's wrong, it's part of human nature. If Richard speaks, it's usually to subtly admonish someone whose morals don't match his. There IS such thing as a moral hitman. He isn't doing Jimmy Darmody's bidding for money. He does it because he and Jimmy are brothers in arms and Jimmy is one of the few people who treats him like a man instead of a monster. Whether Jimmy does this to control Richard or genuinely cares about him, is thus far unknown, but Richard wants a family and a normal life of his own. Seeing as that's not possible, he'll settle for observing Jimmy's. Abilities: Richard was a sniper in WWI. Anything there is to know about guns, he probably knows it, and he has yet to miss a target. Don't bother going for your weapon when confronting one of his men, because chances are, he's already behind you with the hammer on his pistol cocked back. Weaknesses: Social situations, living an empty life, his own envy, Odette, and possibly Angela Darmody.
